These past nine weeks have been the best and most rewarding moments of my life. I spent them at camp! I’ve always loved going to camp as a teen, and when the opportunity came up for me to spend an entire summer at camp, I was both excited and nervous.
I had signed up for any position, and was accepted as a counselor, which I found out included everything from preparing devotionals each night, to spending one-on-one time with each of my campers, to baby-sitting twenty-two 4-and 5-year-olds during family camp, to being a life guard every day at lakefront (and gettin a decent tan while I’m at it!).
I have seen God at work first hand this summer, answering prayers…my prayers! even my campers’ prayers! I got to lead four young ladies to the Lord over the course of the summer, three of them my own campers who I had noticed were struggling the first few days, and saw the Lord answer my prayer that they make the right decision! Here are a few highlights from the summer in the form of pictures!

To top it all off, we had gorgeous weather most weeks, except for that one little TORNADO that almost hit us. Extreme humidity, no electricity, and 12 junior campers per cabin who all need to go potty right now!! Oh yeah, that was an adventure.

Yet another cabin challenge was to dress the counselor up like a bride, made only out of toilet paper! 8 girls + 1 ginormous roll of toilet paper = 30 minutes of sheer madness! You must admit the finished product is actually kinda cute!

Yes that’s me with a mohawk. My girls challenged another cabin to see which counselor could have the coolest hairdo made of shaving cream (nasty stuff). I thought they did a pretty awesome job, but I lost because the awesome-ness fell over in the first breeze lol! And in case you were wondering, it took no less than 7 shampoos to get that out of my hair!

Spirit day was Thursday, and we always tried to out-do our team leader in how much blue we could wear. It was a fun little competition to look forward to.

During junior weeks each cabin got to learn certain skills…a favorite being horse riding! We also had volleyball, soccer and kickball. There were so many activities around camp that we literally didn’t have time to do it all in one week!

My cabin name was “Sunburned Sally” and I made up cheers and everything (they’re purty cute!)

I am so thankful for the great group of counselors we had this year! They were each a true blessing!

My cabin was under the deck in that bottom right hand corner! It was a beautiful view of the lake!
